  Our History
The law firm of Freedman & Lorry was founded on March 1, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by five attorneys. Starting as a general practice office, it soon undertook representation of longshoremen and merchant seaman, quickly earning a reputation as an aggressive and innovative champion of labor, both in employment relations and in compensation for the sick and injured. The firm is responsible for changing maritime law to benefit merchant seamen and longshoremen. Between the 1940’s and 1960’s, Freedman & Lorry had the greatest number of matters pending before the United States Supreme Court in the country.

The firm’s practice expanded to include the representation of labor unions and Taft-Hartley Funds through the emergence of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974. In addition, the office maintains several legal services plans and a general practice in the areas of personal injury, criminal, bankruptcy, family law and commercial litigation. As part of serving the needs of clients, the firm opened a second office in New Jersey.

At Freedman and Lorry, our dedication to fighting hard in the courts for working people is unsurpassed. For the past 60 years, our attorneys have delivered quality legal care to clients from all walks of life. Every day, we strive to improve upon our record of success.
